Tim O’Brien

Happy birthday, Tim O’Brien! His celebrated 1990 short story collection, The Things They Carried, blurs the line between fiction and reality. Some of the stories even seem to share characters with his previously published 1973 autobiographical book, If I Die in a Combat Zone, Box Me Up and Ship Me Home.
